A report emerged that Christopher Judge was in talks with Amazon Prime Video to play Kratos in the live-action God of War series. Judge voices the role in the video game versions after taking over from T.C. Carson in 2018. However, the actor himself has debunked the reports, sharing that he is not aware of such news.
Judge was responding to a tweet from @TweetedSpoilers, who shared an image from CoveredGeekly. The news read, “Christopher Judge is reportedly in talks to play the live-action Kratos in God of War.” However, Judge mockingly commented, “I am???”, suggesting that he had no clue about such talks.

The outlet mentioned that it had sourced the news from insider John Campea. In his latest video, Campea discussed the possible casting of Kratos in the live-action series. He mentioned Judge as a possibility, but never mentioned in the video that Judge was in talks to play the role. However, he shared before listing his favorites, “I’ve been told a couple of names that are in the running.”
Christopher Judge Kratos Rumor: Other Popular Actors Who Could Play the God of War Role
John Campea mentioned a list of actors who could play Kratos in the God of War series. He shared that his picks were based on popular fan casts, personal opinions, and industry rumors. He also shared two criteria for the actor who would play Kratos. He alluded:
Number one, you can’t be too young. Kratos is a character that needs to carry some weight, some age, and burden. This is a guy that you’ve got to instantly believe that he has seen and been through it all and the weight of it is all on his big considerable shoulders. So, I don’t think you can get an actor who’s 30 years old to play him.
Campea’s second criterion was that the actor needed to “have a physical presence.” He further shared, “I’m not saying he has to be the biggest bodybuilder in the world, but he’s got to at least have the ability to truly bulk up and carry a physically intimidating presence.” He went on to mention his first possibility as Christopher Judge.
However, he admitted that while Judge’s voice acting was exceptional, his on-screen presence may not justify the character. He further went on to share the other actors who could play Kratos.
They also discussed a variety of other names, some ridiculous and others that could be kept as a backup option. These names included John Travolta, Ben Stiller, LeBron James, Alan Ritchson, Michael Gonzalez, Alexander SkarsgĂĽrd, Josh Brolin, Idris Elba, Hugh Jackman, and Chris Pratt.
Another Fake Kratos Rumor Went Viral a Few Days Back
Former rapper and podcast host Joe Budden was thrown into pop culture discussions when it was reported that he auditioned to play Kratos in Amazonâs God of War series. However, the rumors seem unfounded.
Gaming fans on X found their content for the day mocking Budden, after a user called Radec shared the news about Buddenâs audition. Now, the user doesnât seem to have attached any source, even as they claim that Budden revealed it himself. Nor can we find any quote related to Kratos or God of War in Buddenâs hours of podcast content.

The news was later shared on the r/GodofWar subreddit, where it was pinned for some time. Many fans made funny memes of Kratos from the game, but with the voice of Budden from his podcast. The meme videos caught the attention of Metro Boomin, who took to X to appreciate all the memes. He shared, âThese Joe Budden Kratos videos got me crying.â
Interestingly, it was Metro Boomin addressing the memes that finally got Buddenâs attention. He reacted with a variety of emojis under Boominâs X post, neither confirming nor denying it. Budden shared:

Radecâs later post suggested that the claim had no basis. After the host himself reacted to the news, the user wrote on X, âMy work here is done.â

Amazon Prime Video earlier confirmed a live-action God of War series with The Expanse creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby at the helm. However, last year, it was reported that both Fergus and Ostby, along with showrunner Rafe Judkins, left the show. Ronald D. Moore is currently helming the series.
