‘Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class’ Season 1 Episode Count, Release Schedule & Streaming Details

A new spin-off series for Gintama, titled Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class, began its release on October 7, 2025. According to the official website, the first episode was broadcast at 12:00 am Japanese Standard Time. It’s an adaptation of the light novel of the same name, written by Tomohito Osaki and illustrated by the original creator, Hideaki Sorachi.

The opening theme song for Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class is Sakurakaze by virtual YouTuber Botchi Boromaru, while the ending theme song is titled Underclass HERO by LONGMAN. Bandai Namco Pictures is in charge of animation, with Shinji Takeuchi returning as the chief animation director. Let’s dive more into the spin-off series.

Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class – Episode Count & Release Schedule

Unlike the 367 episodes that Gintama had, Gintama: Mr. Ginpachi’s Zany Class is expected to have 12 episodes in Season 1. If the series goes with the weekly schedule, each episode is expected to be released on Tuesdays at midnight (Japanese Standard Time). Here’s a full release schedule:

The spin-off will broadcast on Tokyo TV and its affiliates during its initial release in Japan. Moreover, Web3 anime-styled brand Azuki’s Anime.com platform will stream it in the United States, and Crunchyroll has licensed the rights, too. For countries in South and Southeast Asia (outside Australia and New Zealand), Medialink will stream it on Ani-One’s YouTube channel.

The Plot and Cast of Gintama: Mr Ginpachi’s Zany Class





Volume 1 of the light novel was published on February 3, 2006. The latest volume was released recently, on October 3, 2025, and is the tenth in the series. Gintama: Mr Ginpachi’s Zany Class is set in high school instead of the Edo period, with the protagonist, Gintoki Sakata, as the teacher.

His name in the spin-off is Ginpachi Sakata, and now he’s in charge of Gintama High School’s Class 3-Z, full of ragtag and odd students. We watch him navigate his life, which is more of a rollercoaster, and approach it with the familiar nonchalant attitude. The first episode’s title is My Tutor Always Says It’s Okay If I Don’t Score 100, 70 Is Good.
