By Daniel Anderson 10/14/2025

Pokémon fans are always excited to hear about what’s next: be it a new region, a remake, or another open-world adventure. While Game Freak is famously tight-lipped about its development timeline, a recent leak has seemingly cracked open the vault.

According to leaks, the studio’s roadmap through 2030 showcases not just the upcoming titles but also a change in how Pokémon games are made and released. If the details in the leak hold true, fans are in for a golden era of the franchise.

Five Years, Four Major Titles: Game Freak’s Ambitious Road Ahead

The leak breaks down Game Freak’s plans from 2026 to 2030. The studio is looking to begin with Generation 10 (called Project Gaia) in 2026, complete with DLC in 2027. Also on the timeline is the next title: “Ringo” or Legends: Galar

, a potential 2027 release following the Legends: Arceus formula.

However, perhaps the most ambitious entry in the entire timeline is Project Seed, a 2029 title set across all four Japanese-inspired regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. Before it all culminates into a new Generation: Gen 11 in 2030.

Beyond the new game entries themselves, this roadmap also showcases a strategic change in how Game Freak is going to operate in the future. The studio is finally extending its development cycle from three to four years.

With the studio reportedly working on a new engine for the future titles, all the details point to a future where the studio will finally prioritize polish and performance over rushed deadlines, which is a refreshing shift after Scarlet and Violet’s rocky launch on the original Switch.

What It Means for Fans: Optimism with a Hint of Caution

The Pokémon community’s reaction has been full of excitement for the future, but it also comes with a bit of doubt and caution. The general consensus is that Game Freak is learning from past mistakes, investing time into better technology, and rebalancing its development teams.

The major piece of information making the rounds on the internet is Project Seed, which promises to unite multiple regions in one expansive RPG, something fans have dreamed of for decades.

However, fans are taking the leaks with a grain of salt, as everyone should. Others remain skeptical. Some worry that The Pokémon Company’s rigid deadlines won’t budge and could still rush releases, undermining this newfound ambition.

Still, if even part of the leaked roadmap holds true, Pokémon players could be entering the most exciting, content-rich half-decade in the franchise’s history. Which title are you most looking forward to? Comment below to let us know.
