When the Wonder Woman game was first rumored to be coming, fans’ excitement reached a high as they were excited to see the iconic Amazon Warrior finally get a video game adaptation. However, with the reported cancellation of the game, what was lost with it was one of Jesper Kyd’s boldest musical experiments in superhero gaming history.

The award-winning composer Jesper Kyd is known for his work in countless video games, including Assassin’s Creed, Hitman, Warhammer 40k, and more. He revealed in an exclusive interview with us what plans he had for the score for the now-cancelled Wonder Woman project.

What Was Jesper Kyd’s Plan for the Now Cancelled Wonder Woman Game

When it comes to video games, it is the music that defines the tone of the hero’s journey. The cancellation of the Wonder Woman game not only ripped players off of a potentially great game but also a soundtrack that could have redefined how superhero stories sound in gaming.

In our conversation with Jesper Kyd, we asked what he had to say about returning to the superhero gaming world and tackling another franchise now that the Wonder Woman game reportedly stands cancelled:

I would. With Wonder Woman, we were going in an unusual direction for a superhero score, and I feel there’s so much there yet to be discovered. I was drawing on my experience working with electronic music and mixing it with live choir and orchestra.

These comments reveal just how experimental the Wonder Woman music score was going to be. Instead of leaning into the predictable bass-heavy music that often dominates the superhero genre, the composer was planning a much better score that combined electronic music with a live choir/orchestra.

Why We Need a New Jesper Kyd Score in Another Superhero Game ASAP

Jesper Kyd has a long history of pushing boundaries in game soundtracks. His amazing ability to blend genres has helped establish franchises like Assassin’s Creed, leaving no doubt that his work in the Wonder Woman title would have given the studio an edge over other superhero video games.

Music is one of the most powerful assets of any title, as it helps build both the ambience and the emotional depth. Jesper Kyd is one of the few legends who understands this better, and with his willingness to work for a superhero franchise, fans should be able to see him come back even stronger sooner rather than later.

It could be any superhero video game that is looking to create its own identity through music, and Jesper Kyd will be the one man who will help the studio pull it off.
