The time grows near for the highly anticipated Battlefield 6, set to release on October 10. With only a few days to go, now’s the perfect time to know what the first-person shooter has to offer in the multiplayer department, spanning eight game modes and a plethora of maps. Here are all the multiplayer modes that are confirmed for launch in Battlefield 6.
1. Conquest
Conquest has been a staple multiplayer mode that’s been there since the inception of the iconic series, and it returns in Battlefield 6 on launch day. While things have improved, the core mechanic remains the same. The mode starts with two teams on opposite sides of one map, with each consisting of up to 32 players. Overall, it will be a classic 64-player Battlefield lobby.
With an array of vehicles ranging from SUVs and tanks to choppers available at your base, your job is to capture as many flags as possible and kill opponents in the process. There are six flags located throughout the map, from A through F, and you need to take control of the flags by standing inside the highlighted area for a few moments. Once you’ve captured a flag, keep them under control to rack up more points.
The more points you earn, the higher your chances will be of scoring a victory. Keep capturing more flags throughout the entire map, either by raiding the area or killing enemies that have control of the flag for more points. Conquest starts with 1,000 points, given to each team, and the more control you have on the flags, the better you can hold the position of your points.
If you let go of the flags, your team’s points, which are indicated by the fluctuating bar above, will decrease. The team that reaches zero points loses the game. One Conquest match can go on for up to 30 minutes, and you only need a few seconds before you can respawn either at your active flag positions or your squad’s locations after death.
To brief you on this classic mode in Battlefield 6, capture the flags and keep them under control, keep the enemy from doing the same to you and fight back to deplete their points until it reaches zero. A bit of teamwork and coordination is a victory to conquer Conquest.
2. Breakthrough
Right up there with the classics like Conquest is the Breakthrough mode, which makes a comeback in Battlefield 6. In this game mode, there are two roles: the Attackers and the Defenders, fighting on breathtaking locations in teams of more than 30 players.
If you’re in the team with the role of Attacker, your goal is to capture objectives throughout the map and keep pushing up until you reach the opponent’s base and capture it as well. Once the enemy team’s base has been captured, along with all the objectives on the way, the Attackers win.
However, if you’ve been assigned the role of a Defender in a team, your job is to stop the Attackers from pushing up on your base and capturing the objectives on the map. Similar to conquest, coordination and teamwork do wonders for strategic plays in Breakthrough. Holding multiple positions at the objectives with a team can stop the Attackers from rushing in guns blazing.
Be it an Attacker or a Defender, Breakthrough can run up to 40 minutes and even more, if both the roles are doing what they do best in Battlefield 6. Players keen on capturing objectives and defending their positions, Breakthrough is the perfect multiplayer mode for them.
3. Domination
Domination is a diet version of Conquest in Battlefield 6 in the sense that the game mode is similar, but the number of flags is reduced from six to three (A, B & C), and the playable areas are shorter, which makes for quicker matches that players can hop in and hop out of around 10 minutes.
Two teams with eight players each spawn at flags A and C, and their objective is to capture the B flag as well as the enemy team’s flag while defending their own. The more flags you capture, the more points you earn. To win the match, you need either two or three flags under your control until the points reach the 200 mark. Once a team scores 200 points with their efficient flag control, they win Domination.
Unlike Conquest, you spawn in random spots immediately after a death, so the matches become more fast-paced and intense, creating a thrilling experience that’s full of chaos and adrenaline. Since the playable areas are shorter with no access to vehicles, the matches hardly take 15 minutes to complete. This mode is recommended for players looking to jump into quicker gunfights at breakneck speed in Battlefield 6.
4. King of the Hill
King of the Hill modes have been prevalent in a plethora of first-person multiplayer shooters, and Battlefield 6 is no exception. In this mode, there’s a specific capture point that rotates around the map after one minute. Two teams, consisting of eight players each, must head to the capture point zone and stand inside to score points.
When you’re inside the zone, you score one point per second, and this remains the same even if your whole team is inside the zone. However, when the enemy team is at the scene and contests the zone, the point count stops until one of the teams captures the zone fully. After one minute, the capture point zone will relocate to another area, and both teams will have to rinse and repeat.
The capture point zone will rotate six times, and after the sixth time, the zone will relocate to the area where it was first designated. Stay inside the zone and get as many points as possible by contesting the opponent team and becoming the true King of the Hill. All you need for these 10-minute matches is some synergy, strategy, and coordination in Battlefield 6.
5. Rush
We go back to longer multiplayer modes with Rush in Battlefield 6, which has elements from Breakthrough, but the objectives are vastly different. Just like Breakthrough, there are two roles in this mode: the Attackers and the Defenders, but they both alternate each round. This means if you’re an Attacker in the first round, you’ll be a Defender in the next and vice versa.
It’s a 12v12 mode where the Attackers must destroy the objectives located around the large-scale maps while the Defenders try their best to stop them. Since the Attackers and Defenders alternate after each round, whichever team wins the most number of rounds wins Rush. Each match takes around 30 to 40 minutes to complete, but offers a cutthroat and intense action experience in Battlefield 6.
6. Escalation
Escalation is Battlefield 6’s brand new game mode that’s never been done before in the previous titles. It’s an amplified version of Conquest, meaning there are seven capture points in this mode with two teams, each consisting of up to 32 players and squads of four, gunning for the same. However, there’s a catch that makes this point exponentially more intense and chaotic.
Teams must hold the majority of the capture points to fill up the meter and score a point, and winning this mode requires three points in total. The real catch here is that after each point is scored, one capture point is removed from the map permanently, shrinking the playable area point by point. This makes late-game gunfights more exciting and action-packed.
The fights boil down from over the entire map to just one point, which makes holding the capture zones tougher and more herculean. Similar to Conquest, you respawn after a few seconds at an active capture zone or one of your squad’s locations. You can also use vehicles like tanks, off-road SUVs, helicopters, and more to traverse the open map.
Follow the teamwork and coordination tactics from Conquest, and you’ll be on the winning team in Escalation. As the name suggests, no team will go down without escalating the fight, and your job is to ensure that you can overcome this escalation with tact gunplay and strategic plays in Battlefield 6. One Escalation match can range from around 20 to 40 minutes.
7. Squad Deathmatch
The next two modes are small-scale experiences in Battlefield 6, starting with Squad Deathmatch. In this mode, there are 16 players divided into four squads, and each squad is aiming for 50 kills as per the match’s requirement to score a victory. Since it’s smaller in scale, there are no vehicles to take advantage of.
The maps in this mode are smaller, encouraging more close-quarter combat and point-blank gunfights rather than ranged combat. The first team to get 50 kills wins this game mode. Choose from one of the four classes, Assault, Recon, Engineer, and Support, and jump into the action.
You’ll respawn immediately after a death, ensuring that you always stay in the battle and don’t miss out on a thrilling experience. This mode can take around 5 to 10 minutes in Battlefield 6, making it one of the shortest multiplayer modes in the game.
8. Team Deathmatch
The next smaller scale mode is Team Deathmatch in Battlefield 6, consisting of 16 players of two teams, divided into eight each, in a race against the enemy to score 100 kills. Similar to Squad Deathmatch, there are no vehicles here, and you spawn instantly after a death.
The only difference is that 16 players are divided into two teams of eight, rather than four teams of four, like in Squad Deathmatch. But Team Deathmatch is an infantry-only mode with four classes to teach from, and takes around 10 minutes to complete in Battlefield 6.
Apart from these eight modes, an improved Portal Mode is also confirmed to be at launch, along with a free-to-play Battle Royale mode in the works, which is rumored to release sometime after the global launch of Battlefield 6 on October 10. No official date has been confirmed as of now, but you can look forward to it once the game releases.
