With the release of the first season of Peacemaker, it was apparent that director James Gunn had a vision for what characters he would like to see in the DCU in the future. And with Season 2, we yet again saw the entry of obscure characters from the comics, like Red St. Wild, based on The Hunter.
Thus, when Season 3 of the series rolls around, we would love to see these 10 villains from the pages of DC Comics, ranked from the least to most deserving of the DCU entry. From gag villains to truly terrifying adversaries, these characters will truly take the show to the next level.
10. Human Flame
Not to be confused with Marvel’s Human Torch, the Human Flame from the pages of DC Comics isn’t a celebrated superhero. In fact, he is considered to be a joke character at best, who works for a one-time gag. He’s often also called a villain who’s basically a loser with a flamethrower suit.
His powers basically include a cybernetic enhancement that provides him with superhuman strength, invulnerability, and Thermal Blast. In the comics, he also managed to fight many DC heroes, like Martian Manhunter, who is speculated to be appearing in Peacemaker Season 2.
9. Codpiece
Coming to a more absurd and comical villain by design, Codpiece is a character with a literal cannon attached to his groin. In the pages of DC, he isn’t a very major name, which adds to the obscurity factor that Gunn really likes.
In the comics, Codpiece had all kinds of ridiculous gadgets built into his genital area, including a cannon, missile launcher, sonic blaster, extendable boxing gloves, and even random tools like drills and scissors. This is the same gag-worthy villain that the series requires to thrive.
8. The Calculator
The Calculator can be a tech-powered villain and tactical mastermind who could contrast with Peacemaker’s dumb-but-effective style of combat. While he is a minor Batman villain from the comics, he can still work in the series, especially if brought in a light-hearted yet impactful manner.
His power suit comes with a powerful onboard computer that can study an opponent’s fighting style and predict their next move. The helmet also has a projector that can create solid, physical objects on the fly. Thus, he can be one of those major villain-types that pose a serious threat to Peacemaker.
7. Lady Vic
Lady Vic is a mercenary and assassin who is often tied to Nightwing in the comics. She is a character who can fit into the espionage/government conspiracy angle of Peacemaker with relative ease, especially with A.R.G.U.S. and Checkmate’s shadow looming in the background with Sasha Bordeaux.
She boasts of superior acrobatic skills, a great understanding of firearms, advanced hand-to-hand combat, and a vast arsenal of weapons. While she may not be as comedic and gag-worthy as the others, she has a certain level of deadly vibe that the show can contrast with its humorous nature.
6. Killer Moth
Coming back to some villains that can lighten up the mood of the series, Killer Moth is one of those pathetic villains who dress like a moth, just to lose constantly to everyone. This can prove to be a positive attribute as he could be used as the butt of Peacemaker’s jokes.
Created to be the antithesis of Batman, but in all the wrong ways, this villain sought to be Batman’s opposite —a crook with a plethora of gadgets that he utilized his skills to help criminals, rather than the police, even boasting his own ‘Mothsignal’ and ‘Mothmobile.’
5. Doctor Phosphorus
A scientist, before his transformation, Doctor Phosphorus became a monster due to a scientific experiment gone wrong by another scientist named Rupert Thorne. Since then, he became obsessed with revenge, which we also saw in DC Studios’ animated series Creature Commandos.
The introduction of the character into the DCU live-action as a glowing radioactive skeleton-man will turn the creepiness and tragic undertone of the series to 11. Not to mention, he seems like another villain to be introduced from the animations into the series, following Rick Flag Sr.’s attempt to contact a mysterious person in Belle Reve Prison.
4. Tattoed Man
With Gunn’s ability to go hog-wild with the visuals in his projects, it won’t be surprising to see the introduction of Tattooed Man in Season 3 of Peacemaker. Majorly attributed to Green Lantern in the comics, he’s a villain whose living tattoos can manifest as weapons, creatures, etc.
Being one of the lesser-known villains, along with the added benefit of adding a visual flair to the usually grounded series, this villain will be able to do wonders, which could also connect to the upcoming Lanterns TV series.
3. Kite-Man
After being referenced by Chris himself in the first episode of Season 2, it will be criminal not to feature Kite-Man in the next season of the series. With the theme of Batman villains we have witnessed in the show thus far, with the added benefit of obscurity, he will be a good match for Peacemaker and the gang.
While in prison, Charles’ genetic makeup was altered by a Project Cadmus doctor, giving him powers like energy projection, flight, super-breath, Psychokinesis, and superhuman durability.
2. Sportsmaster
Sportsmaster is the type of villain that is a ridiculous gimmick character who’s also terrifying when written and played with all seriousness. He has a mix of absurdity and menace that fits Gunn’s vision for the show and wider DCU perfectly. At one point, Gunn even considered adding Sportsmaster to The Suicide Squad (via Heroic Hollywood).
Like his name suggests, Sportsmaster relies on sport-themed gadgets to carry out his dirty deeds, while he also possesses the power to cheat death, which has been witnessed multiple times in the past.
1. Condiment King
The reason why Condiment King is placed at the top of this list is due to just how ridiculous the concept of the character is. Despite firing mustard and ketchup guns and being more of a parody than a threat, this villain is also suffering from tragedy in his backstory.
Condiment King can provide the best of both worlds in Peacemaker, as Gunn’s love for mixing oddball humor with emotional depth and range gives it the perfect entry into the DCU through the series.
Below is a table with more information regarding the villains mentioned above.
