As the world mourns the death of iconic actress Diane Keaton, we look back on her unforgettable appearance in Justin Bieber’s Ghost music video. The pair, who met in 2015 at The Ellen Show, immediately showed onscreen chemistry.
While being interviewed, Keaton could not help but gush over Bieber. “I like that boy,” she said, with the host interjecting that he’s a man now. Keaton added, “Even better.”
Then, the screen flashed topless pictures of the Canadian singer, catching Keaton by surprise: “That is gorgeous. Wow, now we’re talking.” Watch the clip below:

Before they officially met, Keaton said she hadn’t been a fan of Bieber’s music. She’s aware of him and his popularity, but she wasn’t particularly a Belieber—the name of his fandom.
Moreover, the actress admitted she could not believe she was chosen to star in it. It turned out that Bieber handpicked Keaton to act as his grandmother.
After their surprise meeting on The Ellen Show, it’s no mystery anymore why the collaboration had to happen. Keaton developed a loving friendship with the young star, and it’s all well-documented in that heartfelt music video.
Keaton Once Revealed Unforgettable Experience Filming ‘Ghost’ Music Video
Working alongside Bieber was a memorable experience for Keaton, admitting in her interview via Vogue magazine that she enjoyed the laidback approach while filming the scenes:
All my life, I’ve been an actress and had lines, and sometimes I’ve gotten to loosen them up a little—but this was just completely loose and relaxed. Nobody ever [told me to do] anything, which made it so much fun.
Fans also got to see more of her style in the music video, confessing that she took inspiration from her own wardrobe. And, the cherry on top of it all was Keaton’s admiration for her co-star, calling Bieber a true gentleman.
Keaton appeared in another episode of The Ellen Show in 2022, where she looked back fondly on her time co-starring with Bieber, claiming it was the most pleasant experience of her life.
The passing of the Annie Hall star left a huge dent in the industry, with several friends and colleagues in show business offering their tributes in memory of the late actress.
