The high-stakes Crown Jewel Championship matchup between the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, and the reigning WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes, got fans excited right from the moment Rollins’ entry theme, The Vision, played out in the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
However, the WWE poster boy’s entry theme, Kingdom, also caused the crowd to yell at the top of their voices as The American Nightmare walked out to the ring. It was a quest to repeat his feat for Rhodes, while Rollins wanted redemption with his first victory over Rhodes to make the scoreline 3-1.
Cody Rhodes Dominated Seth Rollins Till the Match Was Fair
The bad blood between Rollins and Rhodes became evident from the opening bell as both stars came out gun blazing, trying to push each other to the turnbuckle. However, Rhodes got the upper hand initially and hit Rollins with a vertical suplex.
Rollins tried to take out his frustration on Michel Cole by getting into an argument, but Rhodes used this chance to take advantage once more. However, The American Nightmare couldn’t hold onto his momentum for long as Rollins resumed his attack shortly. The Architect hit his rival with a suplex of his own, but couldn’t succeed in gaining the pinfall.
Moments later, Rhodes gained momentum and hit a devastating vertebreaker on Rollins. The Perth crowd was loving it whenever The American Nightmare went on the attack. Nevertheless, the RAC Arena audience also found a unique way to taunt Rollins: with “CM Punk” chants.
But that didn’t stop Rollins. The Paul Heyman guy gained momentum shortly afterwards and subjected Rhodes to a combination of a Pedigree and a stomp. But even this combination couldn’t help him earn his first victory against Rhodes.
Seth Rollins Won the Crown Jewel Championship Unfairly
Rollins realized that it would be too hard to win against Rhodes in a fair way. He chose to go rogue and use his Rolex watch that Rhodes had once gifted him during the match. Rollins wrapped it around his fist but couldn’t succeed in hitting Rhodes with it initially.
However, the 39-year-old pulled off a berserk move moments later as he went flying from corner to corner to hurt the inverted Rhodes he left hanging on one turnbuckle.
Rhodes got back into the match soon and subjected Rollins to a Cross Rhodes from the top rope. But Rollins showcased incredible resilience as he kicked out from the subsequent three-count. Subsequently, Rhodes took his eyes off Rollins for a few moments, but it turned out to be a massive mistake.
The Architect made the most of this chance by loading up his fist with the watch once more. This time, he landed a strong blow on Rhodes’ face and left him dazed while he was attempting another Cross Rhodes.
With lightning quickness, Rollins used a combination of a regular stomp and another stomp from the top rope to compromise Rhodes’ condition even more, which ultimately helped him earn the three-count on his rival and become the WWE Crown Jewel 2025 Champion.
Rollins earned redemption on Rhodes, pushing the score of their rivalry to 3-1. The Architect also detailed how he felt relieved to finally get the “monkey off his back.” Still, the way he earned the prized Crown Jewel Championship might leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans.
