Shoot Pathfinder to Send Weronika Back to Edward’s Doorstep

If you choose the option “Shoot him. End it here” at the end of Cronos: The New Dawn, you will not only kill Pathfinder but also yourself. This is likely because the Pathfinder will be erased from all timelines, and it will be like Weronika’s Essence was never transferred into your body.

After shooting the Pathfinder, you will use his tool to open a Rift, sending Weronika back in time, which is scheduled before the Change happened. However, Weronika will have the early symptoms of the Change and will knock at Edward’s door, seeking help. By doing so, you will accept humanity’s fate, and nothing can be done to prevent the Change from happening.

You go to Edward only because you don’t want to be alone in the final moment, knowing that nothing can change the future now.

Spare Pathfinder to Let Weronika Succumb to the Change

Choosing the “Spare him. Let them go” option during Cronos: The New Dawn‘s ending segment, you will let go of the disapproval and allow both Pathfinder and Weronika to exit through a Rift. After a while, Pathfinder will be seen waking up in a distant future, where Weronika has finally succumbed to the Change. She is slowly transforming into an Orphan.

In an attempt to fix everything again, Pathfinder will extract Weronika’s Essence, possibly for injecting it into a Traveler’s body. And from this point, the entire story might begin again, starting a loop.

Begin Anew to Break the Cycle

If you finish the game and decide to go for a second playthrough, you will unlock a new ending after beating the Pathfinder. This time, you will get an option to break the cycle by choosing the “Begin anew” ending. In this ending, you will convince Pathfinder to let go of this stubbornness, that Weronika’s fate lies somewhere else.

In this secret alternate ending to Cronos: The New Dawn, Pathfinder will let Weronika and you travel through a Rift using his tool. Cut forward to a segment where Weronika wakes up as a Traveler. In this ending, you (ND-3576) will extend your hand after Weronika wakes up, promising a hope for humanity. A hope that there can still be something that humanity can do to save itself.

What Is the Best Ending in Cronos: The New Dawn?

The only correct answer to this question is the NG+ Ending! By choosing this option, you give Weronika a chance to live and offer humanity some hope that it can still save itself from a deadly plague called the Change. However, choosing this option will require the Pathfinder to compromise his feelings for Weronika. Only then will she and you travel through the Rift in a different timeline, where Weronika wakes up as a Traveler.

Besides, selecting the default endings that require you to spare or shoot the Pathfinder ends up in a sequence where Weronika’s hope for a future is destroyed. Choosing any of these options will see her transformed into the Orphan. That being said, you should complete the game, beat Pathfinder for the second time, and choose the “Begin Anew” option to do the noble thing.
