Resident Evil 9: Requiem leaks have been emerging left and right; however, Capcom isn’t particularly upset about it. While other publishers focus on eliminating leaks in general, Capcom believes it’s a “positive thing.” At least that’s what the director and producer of Resident Evil 9: Requiem believe, if not Capcom.

Capcom Doesn’t Mind Leaks, but There’s a Catch

Recently, the director of Resident Evil 9: Requiem, Koshi Nakanishi, and the producer, Masato Kumazawa, spoke to VGC (via Insider Gaming) about leaks. Surprisingly, the director feels that leaks are positive because they show that fans are interested in knowing more about the game, other than official statements.

However, at the same time, Nakanishi also believes “not all leaks are right.” In those situations, fans can get diverted in the wrong direction. Thus causing confusion on the developer end as well, since they won’t know if leaks are disrupting the game until rele ase as well.

UPDATE: Koshi Nakanishi commented on Resident Evil 9: Requiem leaks stating that he sees them as a positive thing reflecting people’s interest in the game that they wanna discuss it online🚀

He also added “Not all leaks are right”

The VGC interviewer also asked if the development leak gives any sort of fake leaks to divert people. However, the response to that was a simple, “We’ve got enough already.” But again, it could be a diverting attempt, due to recent Leon Kennedy return leaks.

Masato Kumazawa even added that they don’t mind leaks coming out online, whether they are true or not. However, they do have an issue with players believing leaks as gospel, as if they are 100% true. Because when developers release the game without “leaked” features, it often acts as a form of betrayal to fans.

Fans believe that Leon Kennedy is indeed returning to the franchise because there were previous leaks of a second playable character. The only question is whether he’s rocking an eye-patch or not. If yes, then prepare for some more Metal Gear memes.

More Resident Evil 9: Requiem Are Likely on the Way

With each passing month, we’re getting new footage of Resident Evil 9: Requiem gameplay; however, Capcom seems to have plans to reveal more. Recent leaks suggest that Capcom wishes to showcase more gameplay through a dedicated direct stream.

This announcement will also likely reveal that pre-orders for the game will begin in October or November. However, at the same time, these leaks might be only rumors. While many expected Leon to be showcased during the Capcom panel at Tokyo Game Show 2025, it wasn’t true at all. So you should take it with a grain of salt.

That was all you needed to know about how Capcom feels about leaks, with some additional speculations. Will you pre-order Resident Evil 9: Requiem or wait it out? Share with us in the comments, we’d love to know.
