Yerin Ha is a 29-year-old actor born on January 16, 1998, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Hailing from Australia, the actor is of Korean descent (via IMDb and Elle). This is reflected in her portrayal of Sophie, as her character’s last name is changed from Sophie Beckett to Sophie Baek to honor Ha’s cultural heritage.

However, her life takes a dramatic turn during the Bridgerton masquerade ball, where she is introduced as the Lady in Silver. Dressed in a stunning silver gown and hidden behind a mask, Sophie captures the attention of Benedict Bridgerton. However, the two don’t know each other’s true identities, and Sophie’s life as a maid is far removed from the upper echelons of society. Sophie’s age in the series is around 20, which is in line with the timeline of the books. In the book, her character’s full name is Sophia Beckett, and she’s of English descent. The character name Sophia Baek was created for the Netflix series to honor the heritage of actor Yerin Ha.
Ha revealed that the change has been made by showrunner Jess Brownell to make Sophie’s character feel more authentic to Ha. She told Tudum,
