Battlefield 6 Progression Guide: How to Unlock Every Weapon, Camo, and Mastery in the Game

By Robert Taylor 10/10/2025

The anticipation for Battlefield 6 on October 10 is at an all-time high, and for good reason. Developers decided to bring back the franchise’s signature intense gunplay, massive vehicle warfare, and amazing destruction in spectacular fashion.

Every explosion and firefight feels dynamic than ever, but to truly dominate the battlefield, you’ll need access to the most powerful weapons. But unlocking them can be a challenge in itself. Don’t worry, we’ve simplified the entire process so you can understand it easily. Let’s dive in.

Complete Guide to Battlefield 6 Weapon Unlocks

Weapons in Battlefield 6 are unlocked through two main systems: ranking up and completing assignments. The first few (1-2) weapons of each category: rifles, carbines, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, snipers, and shotguns, will be unlocked by default.

After that, you have to earn your way through the next weapon with standard gameplay, essentially levelling up until you meet the requirement. However, the real challenge is the final two to three weapons in each category, which require you to complete specific assignments.

Note: Pistols and sidearms are strictly tied to rank progression; no assignment required.

To start unlocking the later-tier weapons, the first barrier is to reach level 23. From there, each weapon type includes tiered challenges that must be completed in order. Just follow the task, which usually requires killing certain enemies or doing the same at a certain distance.

Since assignments aren’t limited to weapons, for your ease, here’s a small table that shows what tab rewards what items.

Overall, the weapon unlock system seems complex, but it’s fairly easy. And the assignment gives you the necessary reward to experiment with different weapons. And maybe you’ll find your new favorite weapon.

Battlefield 6 Camos, Mastery Badges, and Player Cards Explained

Beyond raw firepower, Battlefield 6 also offers an extensive cosmetic (not very flashy kind) and mastery system for those who love to show off their accomplishments.

There are two kinds of skins for weapons:

To unlock both of these types of skins, players need to increase their weapon mastery, essentially meaning to use the weapon more and more. And as you level up your weapon mastery, rewards unlock at set milestones:

Vehicles also follow the same pattern, and yes, at level 50, you’ll unlock the “Gold Standard” skin, which looks like an orange-and-charcoal aesthetic (because gold stands out too much in the sky).

Finally, there is a general progression which also grants Mastery Badges in five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Elite. These badges are earned through consistent use of weapons, vehicles, and classes, and most importantly, they can be proudly displayed on your player card.

Do you like the progression system, or would you rather see all weapons unlocked by rank alone? Let us know in the comments below.
