The story of the Battlefield 6 campaign features a Dagger 1-3, who belong to an elite team of US Marine Raiders. Their task is to fight against a private military company called Pax Armata. However, the story runs much deeper than that later down the line.
During the end phase of the game, the US Marines were able to find Pax Armata commander, Kincaid, who opens a bigger picture at play in the Battlefield 6 universe. If you’re confused about the story altogether, we’ve written this explainer for you.
What Is the Rift Between the US Marine Raiders and Pax Armata All About?
At the start of the game, the NATO armed forces were shown to be leaving peacefully from the Georgia base, but Pax Armata didn’t abide by the peaceful exchange and attacked the base. A few months after this event, Dagger 1-3 approaches CIA Agent Mills and finds out that Pax Armata is after her. This marks the beginning of all the mysteries.
Later down the line, the US Marines are trying to track down the Pax Armata commander, Kincaid, who slips past them in Gibraltar. However, his escape couldn’t be traced, which led the forces to believe they had access to the US military tech.
Following the escape of Kincaid, it was revealed by Agent Mills that Pax Armata stole something from NATO at the Georgia base. Their next mission takes them to Cairo, where the Dagger 1-3 had to capture a CIA informant named Selim.
However, the squad wasn’t able to get Selim, as he was accidentally shot in action. But before he died, he gave a portable drive that needed his biometrics. It gets revealed later that Pax Armata is after Project Veles. It was a new tech that allowed troops to hide their movement from all satellites.
To stop Pax Armata from getting access to such powers, Dagger 1-3 get to Brooklyn, NYC, to protect the president at a NATO conference. After a long back-and-forth to evacuate the president, and thorough fights in Brooklyn, Kincaid goes all out to hunt down Dagger 1-3 squad.
Here’s the part where everything goes haywire and stops making sense to a certain extent. During the final stretch, it’s all about Dagger 1-3 trying to capture Kincaid in a weird goose chase. But that’s the gist.
Is Pax Armata Truly Evil?
Yes, but also no. The Pax Armata was created by the CIA. Apparently, they wanted a villain figure for NATO to fight against. However, the squad went rogue and did as they pleased.
Kincard reveals that he was only a CIA asset, which puts all the suspicion on Agent Mills. So, in short, Battlefield 6 tried to show that the root of all evil is somehow the CIA, but they were only doing a cover-up operation. While that could have been portrayed in a better way, it just feels weird, convoluted, and stretched.
What Happens at the End of the Battlefield 6 Campaign?
The story of Battlefield 6 takes a solid twist during the end stretch as the focus shifts from Kincaid to Agent Mills. While the US Marines are trying to stop the private military, it’s later revealed that Agent Mills was connected to Project Vales, and she exclaims that she wasn’t the only one responsible.
The story then cuts to Dagger 1-3 and the US Marines trying to stop Pax Armata trying to stop Pax Armata trying to launching hypersonic warheads on Europe. While Dagger 1-3 was successful, the secondary squad was only able to stop the launch, but it caused a premature explosion, killing them in action.
After that, Dagger 1-3 goes on the hunt to find Kincaid, and upon capturing it’s revealed that Pax Armara is a hoax created by the CIA. Hemlock then ends up killing Kincaid, and then they try to escape as NATO is trying to destroy the Pax Armata base, while they are inside.
Again, the story cuts to Dagger 1-3 interrogating Agent Mills, where she mentions that Pax Armata was a sanctioned project. However, that went out of control. The only option Dagger 1-3 is left with is arresting Agent Mills or eliminating her. Ultimately, Murphy ends up killing Agent Mills by sending out his squad outside, and that’s the end.
Overall, the story of the Battlefield 6 campaign is all over the place, and made complex to stretch the length. Either way, what do you think about the ending? Do you think the campaign was decent? Share with us in the comments below.
