Battlefield 6 Battle Royale: Will It Be Playable on Day One?

By Thomas Smith 10/07/2025

No, Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode won’t be released on the same day as the base game. On the good note, the game mode will be free-to-play for all users, similar to Call of Duty Warzone. However, do keep in mind that if you want to play the multiplayer or story campaign of BF 6, then you must purchase the base game.

When Is Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Expected To Launch?

Battlefield 6 is releasing on October 10, 2025; however, Electronic Arts hasn’t revealed when we’ll get to play the free-to-play Battle Royale mode. However, leaks suggest that the free-to-play mode will be released 18 days after the main launch. So, you may get to play the game mode on October 28, 2025. But please, take it all with a grain of salt.

Earlier in September 2025, Electronic Arts launched a public playtest for Battlefield 6 Battle Royale

. These sessions are the only way to try out the gamemode before the official release. At the moment, there are no announcements about another playtest happening. If we get to know anything, we’ll pass the information.

What Can You Expect From Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Gameplay?

As mentioned before, the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale will be free-to-play, but it doesn’t fall short compared to the base game. Traditionally, the game will feature 100 players in one map, as all hotdrop to find their victory. But to spice things up, Electronic Arts has made changes to the zone system.

In regular Battle Royale games, if you stay outside of zone, you’ll slowly lose health with each passing second. However, in Battlefield 6‘s iteration, if you go outside of zone, that means complete total annihilation. So, you’ll have to strategically move around instead of waiting for the last second to move.

Speaking of moving around, Battlefield 6 Battle Royale will feature all sorts of vehicles to traverse around. Additionally, there are even armored vehicles that would help you survive longer.

Electronic Arts also built a custom, large-scale map for the game mode, which fans can’t find in the base game. Not only that, destruction would be a large part of the gameplay as well. Let’s say a team has taken the higher ground by being on top of a building; you have full freedom to bring it down.

You’ll also have to coordinate with your team for squad composition, as there are customizable classes and traits. Furthermore, you’ll also have to take on in-match missions to gain more experience points and become the best hunters in the no man’s land.

That was everything you needed to know about Battlefield 6 Battle Royale. Are you excited to try out the game, or do you have other games in mind? Share with us in the comments.
