Avengers Doomsday: Mark Ruffalo Addresses the Biggest Concern About Smart Hulk

By Steven Smith 10/03/2025

Avengers: Doomsday is a little over a year away from its release, and one of the biggest concerns among fans is about all the actors and characters that haven’t officially been announced to return. This includes Mark Ruffalo as well, who was officially transformed into Smart Hulk in Avengers: Endgame, and now the actor has addressed that concern.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he was asked by the talk show host about why he wasn’t “in the Avengers trailer.” To this, Ruffalo candidly yet jokingly replied with a smirk,

They decided it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.

As hilarious as that is, even Fallon couldn’t help but agree as he said, “All right, that makes sense,” before moving on in their interview. And, to be fair enough, even as a joke, that does make sense, considering just how many times Ruffalo has actually gotten away with sharing spoilers of multiple Marvel projects over the years!

Mark Ruffalo Has a Fair History of Leaking Spoilers For Marvel Projects

While Tom Holland is infamous for not being able to keep his excitement to himself and ending up sharing spoilers, many fans don’t realize that Ruffalo has not only ‘been there, done that’ a few times, but he actually has a fair history of leaking spoilers for Marvel projects.

Take July 2017, for instance, when, while promoting Avengers: Infinity War, the actor accidentally revealed that a multitude of superheroes would die in the movie.

A few months later that same year, in October, he inadvertently live-streamed an estimated 20 minutes of the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok, releasing the film’s audio to fans who had tuned in to the livestream. And this was done around a month before the flick was actually released in theatres worldwide.

Then, a year later, he once again slipped when he gave away the official title of Avengers 4, i.e., Avengers: Endgame, which was, at the time, a well-kept secret. This gig continued in April 2019 as well, when he disclosed Steve Rogers’ marriage to Peggy Carter in Endgame during an interview (via ComingSoon.net).

However, pretty much all these times, he got away with his actions with little to no harm, as most of the people took his words as a joke and barely anyone believed him. With Holland, it was different, though, since his over-hyped self clearly gave away that he was telling the truth, thus resulting in him being crowned the ‘King of Spoilers’ instead of Ruffalo.

Fans Feel it’s ‘Fair’ Marvel Cut Off Mark Ruffalo For This Reason

Although fans still want answers (of course, they do) about Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, they didn’t hesitate to see the actor’s joking about his situation as an opportunity to troll him for it. If anything, some are even hilariously saying how it’s a ‘fair’ decision from Marvel to cut him off from Doomsday for this very reason.

On X, here’s what some of them have to say:

honestly? fair. man spoiled entire plotlines like it was promo. pic.twitter.com/7dPfyRSFKw

Hulk’s biggest power has always been leaking the script before the premiere

I didn't know Mark's mouth had more power than Thanos' snap

Mark Ruffalo really spoiled his way out the MCU 💀

when the hulk is the only thing standing between you and a plot twist

Ruffalo wasn’t cut from Avengers, he was cut from the group chat 😏📱

we know why… pic.twitter.com/aM2BFWQNv9

While these reactions are indeed funny, either way, now that Doomsday is right around the corner, fans have yet to witness Ruffalo’s Hulk in action once again since his 2022 appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

Though the actor is set to reprise his role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, official confirmation about his inclusion in Doomsday is yet to be received. Still, what do you think about this? Do you feel Hulk will be in Doomsday as well, and everyone is just trying to keep his inclusion under wraps for now? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026.
