Are Emma Myers and Evie Templeton Heading Towards Blake Lively and Leighton Meester’s Fate?

Emma Myers and Evie Templeton had one of the most interesting arcs in season 2 of Wednesday, which seems to be bordering on the one shared by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester’s characters on Gossip Girl. Myers and Templeton played Enid Sinclair and Agnes DeMille on Wednesday and were at each other’s throats at the beginning of the season.

However, by episode 7, they seem to have created a truce and even share a dance at the Nevermore fundraiser. Myers mentioned that, as fun as the banter was between the two, she liked that they were now friends on screen (via THR).

I love going back and forth with Evie, but I do love being friends. Enid’s always arguing with somebody, so it’s nice to not have to by the end of the season.

Enid and Agnes’ relationship in the series seems to be similar to that of Blake Lively’s Serena and Leighton Meester’s Blaire in Gossip Girl. Unfortunately, the two actors’ real-life relationship was not as happy as their on-screen characters.

Evie Templeton and Emma Myers’ Frenemies Arc Is All Too Familiar to Gossip Girl Fans

Agnes and Enid are both vying for Wednesday Addams’ attention in the second season of the hit Netflix series. While Enid has been her trusting roommate and has a season-long head start, Agnes’ invisibility powers and devotion to Wednesday give her an edge as well. While they share a rocky relationship in the beginning, they get closer later.

The first season of Gossip Girl entirely revolves around Blake Lively and Leighton Meester’s characters’ rivalry on screen. Serena van der Woodsen returns to her boarding school after a family crisis, only to be in the line of the school’s popular girl, Blaire Waldorf. While they are equals, their status makes them extremely competitive, much like Enid and Agnes.

While their relationship has similar ups and downs throughout the show, Lively and Meester reportedly did not get along too well off-screen. While there was no ugly feud, many accounts reveal that the two were not as close on set as they were on screen. Gossip Girl executive producer Josh Schwartz mentioned (via Vanity Fair),

They were friendly, but they were not friends like Serena and Blair…Blake is very much in the moment. Blake knows what’s happening. You talk to Blake on a very contemporary level, and she would be like, ‘I’m doing this thing tonight. Have you been to this restaurant?’

New York Magazine mentioned that the two avoided each other like the plague, but other cast and crew said that it was not that serious. However, the two still do not follow each other on social media. While they are closer on screen, the way Emma Myers and Evie Templeton’s journey on screen feels all too familiar.

Emma Myers and Evis Templeton spend the better part of Wednesday season 2 bickering with each other, with the latter even doing some severely dark actions to sabotage her friendship with Wednesday. However, by the end of the season, the two repair their relationship in a way and dance together at the Nevermore fundraiser.

As fun as their banter is, Myers mentioned that she was glad Templeton and her on-screen relationship was fixed in episode 7’s The Dance of Death.

I didn’t get episode eight until like we started shooting episode eight. I think, though, it’s a fitting ending. If anybody has to make that sacrifice for Wednesday, I’d love it to be Enid. And hopefully, now in season three, they won’t be bickering all the time, and they can actually be friends. It’s definitely an interesting plotline for Enid, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

The season ends with Enid making the ultimate sacrifice to save Wednesday from being buried alive. While it would have been a win against Agnes if their competition were still ongoing, their repaired relationship makes it less of an issue.
