All Easter Eggs & Hidden References In Ghost of Yotei

By Charles Martinez 10/03/2025

Ghost of Yotei was released a while ago, and it has already taken over the entire internet, and the developers of the game, Sucker Punch Productions, have densely packed it with secrets. So, we decided to make a list of five secrets in Ghost of Yotei that need your attention. Let’s get started.

1. Infamous Reference

At number one, we have the Pillar of the Fallen in Ghost of Yotei, which is a direct reference to a game called Infamous. The game is made by the same developers, Sucker Punch Productions, and was released back in 2009.

In Ghost of Yotei, you can find the Pillar of the Fallen at the Ohara Beach in Ishikari Plain, where it is on the southwestern corner of the map. The pillar is struck by lightning, which is a reference to Cole MacGrath, the protagonist of Infamous, because he controlled lightning.

2. Sir Raleigh the Frog Reference

In Ghost of Yotei, when you are halfway on top of the Faithful Leap Shrine climb, you will find a wide open area where, instead of heading towards the ramp, you can head down and climb up to a spot where you can squeeze through.

When you reach the end, spin the camera, and you will see a frog wearing a tall black hat and holding a cup of water. That is Sir Raleigh the bullfrog, who is the main antagonist in Tide of Terror, which is the first episode of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

. This is another game made by Sucker Punch Productions.

3. Infamous 2 Reference

At number two, we have another Infamous reference in Ghost of Yotei, but this time from the sequel game. Similar to the previous easter egg, this one is also near the Faithful Leap Shrine. After reaching the shrine, you need to take the two grovel slops and go down a lake.

Then you go to the left, through the orange wooded pass, and you will get to a cliff. Once you get to the cliff, turn the camera to find a mural in Infamous 2, which depicts a battle between Cole and the Beast over the Ray Sphere.

4. Ghost of Tsushima Reference

At number four, we have a Ghost of Tsushima reference in Ghost of Yotei, and to find this, you need to first head towards south of the Otsuki River. Once you reach the Forgotten Shrine, you will find Ugetsu, the storyteller, who will tell you about how he is looking for a Katana and send you on a small quest.

Once you complete the quest, you will be rewarded with the Storm Blade katana, which is the same katana Jin Sakai used back in Ghost of Tsushima. The sword is a direct reference to the game, and Ugetsu’s tale also mentions him in Ghost of Yotei.

5. Sly Cooper Outfit

You can literally pull off the Sly Cooper outfit in Ghost of Yotei, which is a direct reference to the Sly Cooper games, created by the same developer. In Ghost of Yotei, after you have completed all the bounty hunts in Ishikari Plain, Kojiro will give you another bounty to hunt, Shiro the Swindler.

As a completion reward for the bounty, you will get the Sly Thief Mask. You can also get the Sly Bandit armor dye in a chest near the entrance to Oshima Coast.

6. Bowing Locations

In Ghost of Yotei, you will find a lot of special signs throughout Ezo, which are marked with a bow. These signs are probably a callback to Ghost of Tsushima, where you had to bow in certain places for the Honor the Unseen Trophy.

You can bow at special places in Ghost of Yotei as well, and it will summon different animals at the locations. If you bow at ten special locations, you will also earn the Speaking with the Land achievement.
