In Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hornet can equip these special items known as Crests, and each Crest can alter her attacks and move set. This means changing her Crest will potentially change how she fights her foes and traverses the world of Pharloom.
So, we decided to make a guide on where you can find all the Crests in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Without further ado, let’s jump into it.
1. Hunter Crest
First up, we have the Hunter Crest, which is the starting crest in Hollow Knight: Silksong and is one of the most balanced crests in the game. This crest is good for quick strikes and maintaining distance from your foes.
The crest is available to Hornet from the start, and it can also be evolved by speaking to Eva in the Weavenest Atla, at the right-most edge of Moss Grotto.
2. Reaper Crest
Next, we have the Reaper Crest, which, while equipped, will slow down Hornet’s attack speed. However, after you use your healing ability, Bind, and then strike enemies, it will produce silk fragments for 10 seconds, restoring one-third of your silk strand. These fragments can be collected by touching or hitting them with the needle.
This Crest is located in the Chapel of the Reaper, a sub-area of Greymoor. It can be found in the eastern part of the area, directly above the Moorwing arena.
3. Wanderer Crest
The Wanderer Crest is an excellent item for players who are just starting out in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Although this crest makes Hornet’s movement similar to that of The Knight from the original game, it also adds two new mechanics, where she is able to perform a quick slash while running and perform a series of rapid thrusts with her Needle.
The Wanderer Crest can be obtained by going through the Wormways, which is accessible through Shellwood, after obtaining a Simple Key. After you enter the Wormways, you need to take the first southeast turn after going west, there you will find the Chapel of the Wanderer to find the Crest.
4. Beast Crest
The Beast Crest is for players who love to play the game as aggressively as possible. One of the best mechanics of this crest is that upon using Bind, instead of healing Masks directly, Hornet enters the Fury state, where each attack that hits an enemy will heal her, and she can heal up to three Masks per Bind.
The Beast Crest can be found inside the Chapel of the Beast, in the Hunter’s March area. You need to defeat Savage Beastfly to get access to the chapel.
5. Architect Crest
The Architect Crest in Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the notable crests for its major focus on allowing Hornet to replenish her Red Tools without using a bench. It can be performed by holding the UP button and then using bind.
The Architect’s Crest can be found in the Chapel of the Architect, an area in the Underworks that is locked via the Architect’s Key. The Twelfth Architect sells this key for 110 Rosaries and can only be obtained after 25 tools have been acquired.
6. Witch Crest
At number six, we have the Witch Crest that can be unlocked by first getting the Cursed Crest, which has the same Needle attacks but is significantly worse. Equipping the Cursed Crest will make Hornet cursed and will prevent her from equipping tools and changing crests.
The Witch Crest will be your reward after you are fully cured by the surgeon named Yarnaby.
7. Shaman Crest
Lastly, the Shaman Crest replaces Hornet’s Needle attacks with a ranged energy wave. Although this crest is mighty, it is also slower than the Hunter Crest. This crest can be obtained from the Ruined Chapel in Moss Grotto, requiring the Silk Soar ability to reach.
After completing the Silk and Soul Quest, you must return to the Snail Shamans and then go to the far-right corner of the room.
The Crests aren’t just little trinkets in Hollow Knight: Silksong, but they’re your entire identity as a warrior. Whether you choose the Beast Crest, the Reaper Crest, or the all-out chaos of the Architect Crest, your playstyle is what makes your journey unique.
So, which of these crests will you be using in your playthrough? Let us know down in the comments.
