Alien: Earth Episode 7, Emergence mirrors the vulnerabilities of each character in the Hulu show. The gut-wrenching cliffhanger sees Joe shoot Nibs during a trap laid by the Prodigy soldiers. His fearful retaliation clashed against Nibs’ ruthlessness earlier when she executed a soldier. The episode closes with Wendy furiously confronting Joe over his decision.
Every character in Alien: Earth carries a backstory. Joe, ever-protective of his sister Marcy (not Wendy), will even risk deactivating hybrid trackers to keep her safe. Let’s rewind to see how these choices set the stage for Episode 7.
Did Slightly Deliver the Xenomorph to Morrow?
For those who’ve been following the show religiously, you might be well aware that Morrow’s (Babou Ceesay) manipulation of Slightly (Adarsh Gourav) is taking over the scenario. Yes, the latter does deliver the Xenomorph to Morrow, but not as you think!
At the start, Slightly hides Arthur, who is still trapped under a Facehugger, until Smee (Jonathan Ajayi) barges in, uncovering the horror. Though distrust brews, Smee urges Slightly to escape, planting the seeds of conflict.
On the other hand, due to the chaos that happened in Episode 6, Boy Kavalier (Samuel Blenkin) and Kirsh (Timothy Olyphant) look around the laboratory. Though the creatures are ‘contained,’ Tootles’s (Kit Young) death is something they aren’t able to hide. Eventually, Wendy (Sydney Chandler) comes in to find out about this.
Realizing safety is gone, Wendy attempts to purge, using the Alien’s call as a weapon, provoking the caged Xenomorph in a desperate gamble. Seeing this, Boy Kavalier asks Kirsh to watch out for the hybrids. They stumble upon the fact that the hybrid trackers are deactivated!
Alien: Earth: Did Boy Kavalier Lose His Hybrids?
In the next sequence, the build-up, the chaos, and the result are both intriguing and hard-hitting! And yes, Boy Kavalier seems to be losing control over his grown-up hybrid children. Joe (Alex Lawther), on the other hand, asks Wendy (or rather Marcy) to sneak out. Ready, she pressures Joe to take others to, to which he reluctantly agrees.
Wendy asks Nibs and Curly to leave, too, but the latter shushes her, though Nibs agrees. While leaving, Wendy unlocks the Xenomorph from the lab, creating the ultimate chaos. The three sneak out, but are followed by soldiers.
Parallely, Smee and Slightly are helped by Kirsh to exit with Arthur’s body. Kirsh confides in them that he knows everything about Morrow and Slightly’s rapport. The two leave, but are petrified when Arthur disappears.
The Facehugger has left, and Arthur seems to be recollecting memories of all that happened. Arthur’s brutal Chestburster death devastates Slightly, showing him as both pawn and victim in Morrow’s game.
The two boys meet Morrow, but are captured, as Morrow is walkie-talking and heading towards plan B. Later on, Kirsh captures Morrow and the Yutani soldiers before bribing them with the Chestburster.
Elsewhere, Wendy, Joe, and Nibs are surrounded by soldiers. To save themselves, Wendy calls the Xenomorph, and it attacks them. She accepts the blood and asks the creature to ‘hide and follow.’
The trio gets to the boat, but is discovered by the Prodigy soldiers, including Joe’s teammates, Siberian and Rashidi. Nibs gets angry when one of the soldiers throws her Mr. Strawberry in water. She kills him, petrifying everyone and escalating a fight.
Joe, in retaliation, shoots Nibs with a laser hun, the same which Morrow used in the premiere episode to shut the Xenomorph. Unclear of what happened, Wendy was furious, saying, “What did you do?” to Joe.
Our Verdict on How Alien: Earth is Setting Up Its Most Explosive Finale Yet
Given that it was the penultimate episode, hail Noah Hawley, as he did an outstanding job in Episode 7, Emergence of Alien: Earth. The plot, the high stakes, and the result are all so gripping and frightening at the same time.
We hope that Nibs isn’t dead. Though she isn’t as strong as the Xenomorph, she is still a powerful synthetic. It seems that the shot knocked her unconscious.
Though Wendy seems to be furious, it will be interesting about how the finale culminates the series. Will there be a next season, too, as this doesn’t seem to end, especially when in one of the scenes, Morrow says to Kirsh that “This isn’t over.” This fuels speculation to look forward!
