Post-Halloween trash accumulation on Shibuya streets has long been a major problem for the city. This year, however, Gachiakuta will be there to save the day. No trash will be left on the ground, as the TV anime teams up with the “Shibuya Zero Waste Project 2025” to keep the streets clean this Halloween.
According to Essential-Japan, the initiative has been praised as innovative, cleverly integrating the anime’s thematic concept into a real-world effort. Here’s more exciting info we have regarding this initiative.
Gachiakuta Joins “Shibuya Zero Waste Project 2025” to Keep Shibuya Clean This Halloween
Every year, the streets of Shibuya get littered with trash during Halloween, and it has been a recurring challenge for the city’s waste management division to clean up. To address this, various initiatives, including the “Shibuya Zero Waste Project”, have been implemented to manage the cleanup efforts.
But this time, there’ll be a new flavor to it. The volunteers will be provided with Gachiakuta
Under the tagline “Cleaners, Assemble”, the real-life Cleaners (the volunteers) will help keep Shibuya’s streets clean this Halloween, with tools such as trash bags, gloves, and tongs provided to collect the litter left behind.
Thematically, this initiative is perfect, as the anime’s storyline itself revolves around cleaning up trash discarded by humans. Furthermore, it’s also interesting how the announcement was made alongside the release of the official synopsis and preview images for Gachiakuta‘s 15th episode of its second season, titled “Hey, Seriously”.
TV Anime Gachiakuta Part 2 Is Here With the Trash Storm Arc, Along With This Noble Collab
The story of Gachiakuta follows a young kid, Rudo, who strives to take revenge on the mysterious entity that killed his adoptive father, Regto. However, he is later accused of murdering his own father and is sent to the Ground: a place where people from the Sphere (aka Heaven) dispose of their trash.
However, even in this filthy place, life persists. Humans with the special ability to imbue objects with power by cherishing them become Givers, who then join the Cleaners Association to clean trash and defeat Trash Beasts.
Some basic info about the Gachiakuta anime:
Now that the second part of the TV anime is here, after 14 episodes, the news of this collaboration feels even more refreshing, as if the whole thing is real. In Part 2, as shown in the synopsis, we might get to see the much-hyped battle between the Cleaners and the Raiders. After being ambushed, the Cleaners are now separated and must face off against the boss of the Raiders, Zodyl, and his subordinates.
One thing the Cleaners definitely have to deal with is figuring out what exactly happened to Amo. What do the Raiders want with her? It’s bound to stir up some serious drama. But this all makes it even more reassuring that this second part is going to be quite the feast to watch unfold. So, are you excited just as we are?
Gachiakuta is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
