The string of Jared Leto’s failures continues with Tron: Ares being the latest box office bomb. However, sources reveal that it might not just be Jared Leto’s fault alone.
An insider revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that Disney could have had Ryan Gosling in the lead role for Tron: Ares for all they cared, but the film would still have been a disappointment.
You could have had Ryan Gosling, it wasn’t going to work. No one asked for this reboot. If you say, ‘Tron: Ares is good, we just needed a different actor,’ you’re deluding yourself.
Opening domestically at a meager collection of $33 million against a massive budget of $180 million, the opening of Tron: Ares is unfortunately even lower than Jared Leto’s other infamous failed movie, Morbius (via Box Office Mojo)
Jared Leto’s Career Might Be Over After Tron: Ares
Being one of the producers of Tron: Ares, there have been rumors that although Disney shelved an earlier version of the script of Tron: Ares (which was a direct sequel to Tron: Legacy), Leto didn’t give up and pursued the company to make the 2025 film.
Starring in the lead role, Jared Leto’s Tron: Ares had a dismal opening day, followed by a meager box office collection that should have been way high up in the sky.
The string of Leto’s failures continues with each movie that he makes. From starring in iconic movies like Requiem for a Dream and Dallas Buyers Club to films like Morbius, there hasn’t been a good Leto movie in a long time.
Sources indicate that Jared Leto’s career is in jeopardy, and it’s unlikely they’ll consider him to lead a franchise movie for some time until his bad luck ends.
Bad Luck or Bad Acting: Jared Leto’s Flop Streak Continues With Tron: Ares
Call it bad luck (although you cannot call it bad luck because it has happened several times), but Jared Leto’s recent films have been nothing but spectacular failures.
Dallas Buyers Club, which was released in 2013, was the last Jared Leto film that got good reviews (and even an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor for Leto).
However, since 2013, his movies haven’t done especially well. The ratings have been average, with films like Morbius receiving the worst from the audience.
Either Leto’s choices in projects are getting worse, or maybe fans are tired of watching Jared Leto’s death stare in movies.
