Netflix is set to kick off the holiday season with the new Alicia Silverstone and Oliver Hudson starrer A Merry Little Ex-Mas. The streaming giant released the trailer for the Christmas romantic comedy, which follows Kate, a recently divorced woman, as she plans a picture-perfect Christmas for one last time before selling her house.
However, things get complicated when her ex-husband Everett unexpectedly introduces his young and successful new girlfriend into the mix. The movie is set to release on November 12, 2025, on Netflix.
Oliver Hudson And Alicia Silverstone Reflect on Their Immediate Connection
Sharing the screen in the upcoming Netflix Christmas romantic comedy, A Merry Little Ex-Mas, Oliver Hudson and Alicia Silverstone quickly developed a strong connection while working together.
“You have chemistry with people, but you can also create chemistry if you’re on the same page,” he told People in a recent interview, reflecting on how their brief interactions off-camera helped spark a strong working relationship that translated into their performances.
The Clueless star also shared that they spent quality time together in the airport en route to Toronto, as she recalled travelling “like a family” with Hudson. “That was fun,” she added.
When we were together, we were both just very present with each other —I think we did have a very good working chemistry for sure. It made it really fun. I loved acting with him.
Silverstone and Hudson are portraying Kate and Everett, the divorced couple, in A Merry Little Ex-Mas. The movie also features Jameela Jamil, Pierson Fode, and Melissa Joan Hart in the movie, alongside Wilder Hudson and Bear Silverstone.
Wilder Hudson and Bear Silverstone Debut in A Merry Little Ex-Mas
The upcoming Christmas movie, A Merry Little Ex-Mas, is also set to mark the debut of Oliver Hudson’s son, Wilder Hudson, who is also playing his character Everett’s son in the movie.
Hudson revealed that his son had just finished an acting class when he landed the role in the upcoming Netflix movie. He also noted that Wilder Hudson “had never done anything before,” in relation to acting, and got very nervous while performing one particular scene. He told People,
It was a big speech — And I’m sitting there listening in the movie, and after his first take, I, for the first time, just started crying. Because I couldn’t believe that this was my son.
Additionally, Alicia Silverstone’s son, Bear Silverstone, also has a cameo in the movie. “Bear brought a friend with him, and they were extras in the part where Pierson and I run to go to the sledding adventure with everyone,” she recalled, adding that her co-star Pierson Fodé (The Wrong Paris) was very kind and playful with them.
