If you have not been living under a rock for a while, then you definitely know about 2XKO, the upcoming 2v2 tag-team fighting game made by Riot Games, which was formerly known as Project L. The early access to the game was released just a few days ago, so we decided to make a complete breakdown of their ranking system. Without any further ado, let’s dive in.
The Ranking System of 2XKO
Similar to other games by Riot, 2XKO uses a tier-based progression system, where you will have to climb through ten distinct ranks, with each of them representing a different skill level. In this game, ranks depend entirely on Ranked Points or RP, and it also determines your position within each rank or tier.
In this ranking system, you need 100 Ranked Points or RP to advance from one tier to another, and similar to other games, winning matches will grant you more RP while losing matches will cost you RP. Each tier will start at Tier 1, and after reaching 100 RP, you will be promoted to the next tier. If you are at Tier 3 at one rank, then the next promotion would be to Tier 1 of the next rank.
Here is a table of 2XKO’s complete rank hierarchy:
As you can tell, the starting rank is Aspirant, where you will learn the basics and slowly progress, and in the end, we have the Challenger rank, which only the top 500 Grandmaster players can advance to, making it the most exclusive rank in the game. Before earning your first rank, you have to complete five placement matches, which will determine your starting rank and tier.
The demotion system in this game works similarly to Valorant’s ranking system, where if you lose a significant amount of RP, you won’t be demoted immediately. Instead, your RP will drop down to zero in your current rank, which is basically giving you a second chance to jump back up again in the same rank.
What Can You Expect from the Early Access Release
2XKO is a fighting game that basically takes characters from the insanely popular MOBA, League of Legends, and tosses them into a fast-paced. 2D tag-team fighter, with insane combos and follow-up attacks. The core of the game is its 2v2 tag-team action, where one character will be fighting the opponent and the other one will be just chilling on the side, ready to swap out.
The game currently features 11 playable characters that have only been launched in early access, with Riot promising to add more characters once the game fully releases. Similar to other fighting games, the control scheme of this game also consists of using light, medium, and heavy attacks, with each character having unique special moves that can be executed.
