Lots of people around the world get tattoos to commemorate the special moments of their lives. The WWE women’s star, Rhea Ripley, also belongs to this club of people, with multiple inks on her body.
While Ripley’s first tattoo serves as the memoir of a significant event in her life, it also commemorates a noteworthy juncture in the WWE’s history, one that did wonders to uplift the stature of women wrestlers in the WWE.
Mami revealed in WWE Tattooed that she chose the Roman representation of the date October 28 (XX. XXVIII) as her first tattoo to commemorate her stellar NXT UK Women’s Championship match with Dakota Kai at Evolution 2018.
Additionally, the fact that Triple H and Co. hosted their first-ever edition of their women’s-only PPV, Evolution, on the same date makes Ripley’s tattoo significant as per the WWE’s history as well.
However, these aren’t the only events associated with Mami’s Roman numerals tattoo, which is located below her left wrist.
Rhea Ripley’s First Tattoo Commemorates Another Significant Event
The list of memorable events associated with Ripley’s first-ever piece of ink doesn’t stop at two. In the same WWE video, the 28-year-old detailed how another significant incident in her life coincidentally became associated with the tattoo.
Ripley revealed that she entered the Australian wrestling promotion Riot City Wrestling on the same date “six years” ago (in 2012). Mami’s time in RCW proved to be a massive stepping stone in her career, leading to her WWE entry. She also told WWE Tattooed,
The funny thing about this day and why it is so special to me is that it was the same day six years prior, when I tried out for Riot City Wrestling in Australia. So it’s technically the start of my wrestling career and it’s also the start of the women’s evolution [in the WWE].
However, not all of Ripley’s tattoos are to commemorate her achievements. There’s one that has a far more profound connection with her than just being the memoir of her accomplishments.
Rhea Ripley’s Most Emotional Tattoo
Like most others, Ripley also possesses fond memories from her childhood days in the Land Down Under. Mami has detailed on multiple occasions how her grandmother used to be her best friend in those days, who would play odd games with her and the other kids in the family.
Ripley’s grandmother had a ceramic jar with the chicken on the lid that used to be of special interest to all the kids, as it contained “lollies” and “minties.” After her “Nonna’s” demise in April 2023 (via rhearipley_wwe on Instagram) Ripley got a tattoo of the chicken jar on the back of her right arm to commemorate their wholesome bonding.
Amid the WWE video, Ripley also called the chicken tattoo the most “meaningful” because of its emotional connection with her.
While several other WWE stars have tattoos on their bodies, do you know about another one that has a similar emotional value to Ripley’s chicken tattoo? Let us know in the comments below.
