Before Michael B. Jordan starred in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, there was another iconic vampire movie in 1996 that was related to music and set in a club. Starring Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney in leading roles, From Dusk Till Dawn is arguably Tarantino’s most famous role (acting-wise).
Good news for the people who haven’t seen the film, as From Dusk Till Dawn will now be available for streaming for a brief time. In celebration of Halloween, the film has been available to stream on Peacock for a while.
In case you haven’t seen the flick, Quentin Tarantino stars as an iconic character opposite George Clooney and Salma Hayek, and here’s why you should watch it.
What is From Dusk Till Dawn About?
Featuring a screenplay by none other than Quentin Tarantino, the story of From Dusk Till Dawn
They take shelter in a rowdy club featuring exotic dancers, machines, and all types of depravity. However, things take a turn for the worse when the Gecko brothers realize that the dancers aren’t humans, but rather, they are Vampires.
Soon, they find themselves trying to win an unwinnable war as they are swarmed by vampires, where betrayals, money, and myths collide in a singular club.
Sharing some similar themes to Sinners, the 1996 movie became quite iconic during its release, and Tarantino was also praised for his acting skills. The question that now remains… is who did it better?
Sinners vs From Dusk Till Dawn: Who Did It Better?
It varies from person to person, but the general consensus is that From Dusk Till Dawn is the better choice for a movie that is fun, entertaining, and over-the-top. Also, add in the factor that the movie is almost 30 years old, and you have got yourself a winner.
The first half is a sharp crime thriller with over-the-top action, dark humor, and several iconic elements. From Dusk Till Dawn is viewed as a pure, highly enjoyable B-movie with themes of action and horror.
Sinners, on the other hand, seems to add a deeper thematic weight and social commentary. It’s grounded, but the plot is overtly filled with genre shifts, Ku Klux Klan elements, and some underdeveloped narrative compared to From Dusk Till Dawn.
Of course, the reviews tell a different tale since fans and critics preferred Sinners over the Quentin Tarantino film.
