24 Years Later, This Arabasta Arc Scene Is Still the Funniest Sequence in One Piece History

By Brian Lopez 10/17/2025

The comedy and humor of One Piece is something that helped the series become one of the greatest pieces of art in history. But even with thousands of funny sequences in the anime, the mention of Crocodile by Vivi during the Whiskey Peak arc is still the funniest scene in One Piece.

Vivi revealing Crocodile’s true identity to Luffy, Zoro, and Nami was so iconic because he was the first major threat introduced in One Piece. Still, the introduction that he got is considered one of the funniest sequences within the story. It not only highlighted the type of humor that the series carried but also created hype before the time skip.

How One of One Piece’s Most Dangerous Villains Ended Up with the Funniest Introduction

There are very few villains in One Piece who have managed to make a lasting impression as big as Sir Crocodile. Even though he was introduced long ago, his presence was so epic that Eiichiro Oda kept his character going, and it is highly likely that he will play a major role in the finale of the series. However, it all started with the revelation of his identity by Vivi when Nami, Zoro, and Luffy confronted her about who Mr. 0 really was.

Vivi emphasized the fact that even taking his name would put everyone under threat, and as she was explaining Crocodile’s power, she accidentally revealed his name. As soon as she took her name, Ms. Friday and Mr. 13 appeared out of nowhere and then flew away to inform Crocodile of the situation. This led to Nami panicking majorly while Luffy and Zoro were just excited to fight against one of the Warlords of the Sea in One Piece.

The interaction was so funny that even today, it is considered one of the most iconic moments from pre-time skip One Piece. There were a lot of hilarious scenes back then, but very few of them can compare to the level of humor and comedy that Crocodile’s identity revealed brought to the story. It more or less balanced out the seriousness of the danger that Crocodile’s name carried.

Eiichiro Oda Needs to Bring Back the Pre-Time Skip Comedy

As mentioned above, the story before the time skip had more comedic moments, which more or less highlighted the essence of One Piece as a light-hearted adventure series. However, since the lore became deeper and intense, these comedic moments have been reduced, thus ruining the experience of One Piece fans who have been watching the series since the beginning.

Thus, Oda needs to do something about it and once again bring back a balance between comedy, thrill, and emotions in order to make the series great again. Although it is understandable, considering the fact that One Piece is currently in its final saga and things are only going to get more serious from here on, but still, the One Piece mangaka still needs to make sure that he doesn’t stray away from the roots of the story.

Luffy is hands down one of the funniest anime characters in history, and he is the only one capable of driving the humor of the story in the right direction. His entire personality is based around this, and thus, Oda needs to make sure the series concludes with a humorous moment. Do you think One Piece will bring the comedy from its early days?
