10 Worst Dressed Celebs at MTV VMAs 2025

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards are raising eyebrows once again with all the colorful, talented entries, though some appear to have bombed pretty frivolously, this time around. While some stars strutted around and stole the limelight for all the right reasons in their chicly elegant outfits, a few others couldn’t really differentiate between good wardrobe choices and downright disastrous ones.

What looked like a lot of celebrities following the n-ked red carpet trend with as little clothing as possible, the MTV VMAs 2025 really featured everything from full lace ensembles to exposed thongs, and even lingerie as outerwear! That said, here’s a list of the 10 worst fashion statements that we took away from this award ceremony as a learning lesson to hopefully never repeat again. Dive in!

10. FKA Twigs

This one might be debatable for some who’ll go ahead to call her outfit a hot one, but really, all it truly felt like was a ‘hot mess’. 

Clad in what appeared to be strips of maroon hard-dried tissue paper, FKA Twigs’ legs, shoulders, and arms were covered, with a thin slab of the substance hiding her breasts in plain sight, and her midriff the barest of them all. She cleaned the look with dark grey accessories on the wrist and black boots.

But while the maroon really worked in her favor, the killer singer could have really done better. If anything, it looked like Halloween came a few months earlier for Twigs, and she was willing to show off her half-finished mummy costume for the event at the awards ceremony. Eek.

9. Frankie Grande

The Grande siblings didn’t really make headlines for the right reasons this VMA season. Well, at least not both of them.

While Ariana Grande really stole the spotlight with her contrasting polka dot look, her half-brother Frankie Grande failed wincingly as his yellow-black print suit just didn’t seem like the right print for the occasion. Plus, that outfit paired with the hairstyle he chose and that intense eye makeup really had him looking like he was doing a Beetlejuice cosplay, at best.

8. Doja Cat

Doja Cat looked pretty at the MTV VMAs 2025, for sure, but her wardrobe choice just felt like a miss for this awards season.

Though she aimed to nail a yellow and blue harlequin print that had glittering purple accents shining on her plunging top and the front of the dress, the look really fell short of shooting its shot as the dress itself looked like a quilted mess.

All in all, for a trendy fashion leader like Cat, she could have done a lot better than this one.

7. Nicole Snooki Polizzi

To describe Nicole Snooki Polizzi’s look for this year’s MTV awards, least dramatically, would be to say she looked like she was headed out for dinner in New Jersey instead of hitting the red carpet for the VMAs. Literally.

Her outfit for the night consisted of a drab floral minidress that gave off the throw-pillow-ish vibe, paired with an oversized black blazer, a choker, and platform heels. And, well, to be utterly honest, the choices and styling all really felt too tired and underwhelming for the event rather than giving her that fashion-forward look.

To say the least, Snooki’s outfit couldn’t quite live up to her ‘iconic’ persona she has established for herself over the years as a reality TV icon.

6. Ice Spice

Ice Spice was simply clashing from head to toe in conflicting flavors that just didn’t sit right at this year’s VMAs.

While she embraced the lingerie trend without baring it all by sporting a yellow corset that really suited her, things really went wrong when she chose to style it with the most unhinged piece of clothing: A pattern-mixing blue skirt. Not to mention that the salmon-colored updo only further added to the conflict.

If anything, the details of this vintage Ralph Lauren fit barely matched in vibe or color, resulting in a mess that even Spice would really want to forget, looking back.

5. Jazmyn Smith

Jazmyn Smith opted for a simple concept to sport at the MTV VMAs 2025, but somehow, things went a bit too awry in the execution.

For the look, she went for a gray, subtly printed Mugler minidress – which would have looked nice, sure, had it not featured those intense shoulder pads and that incredibly unusual, detailed neckline that just made everything look a bit too overwhelming and out of place at the same time.

To put it simply, that really didn’t turn out to be the chic outfit she ostensibly must have been looking forward to sporting on the red carpet.

4. Zara Larsson

Zara Larsson really embraced the bare-it-all trend a bit too closely this awards season. And while the Malibu Barbie has previously turned a lot of heads with her fashion choices, this one really had us wondering if she had dressed up to attend the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony or a 2003 flower-themed pool party.

The singer walked the red carpet in what looked like a light purple bikini layered underneath a bedazzled, flower-adorned, sheer bathing suit cover-up, with flowered hair and hand accessories. That would have served as an iconic look for a beach party, for sure, but for the red carpet? Larsson looked out of place, to be very frank.

3. Megan Stalter

Megan Stalter just added her name to the list of weirdest outfits for the red carpet, because what exactly was that white ensemble supposed to signify?

The comedian’s outfit consisted of a pillbox hat, corset, and a suspended skirt – all white, making her stand out more uniquely than the rest at the event. Honestly speaking, it’s not the best look one might want to go for to attend a major award ceremony like the VMAs.

But as out of place as her attire (can we call it that, though?) looked, the one thing she can still be praised for is that bedazzled Dunkin’ cup bag!

2. Rebecca Black

Rebecca Black felt like she could really use some fashion advice, with her outfit looking baffling – and not in the best ways, mind you.

While she combined several wardrobe styles in that fit, not one of them made any sense for an accurate outfit to flaunt at the VMAs. Her outfit comprised a dramatic silhouette curated from a doily-inspired skirt, paired with platform sandals and a fur top. Basically, a fit that looked like it had been borrowed from a fashion-forward caveman.

Yet, as head-turning as this look might have been, the fashion statement she made with it was a really questionable one.

1. Conan Gray

Conan Gray tried to become the talk of the town with his sailor outfit for the MTV VMAs 2025. And he did, for sure – except that the ‘talk’ really just wanted him to sail out of our view.

Clad in black, dark grey, and white, his fit-check saw him in a nautical-inspired look with puffy sleeves, intense grey platform boots, and a sailor hat. But while he clearly wanted to channel the album art for his Wishbone album and dress up as a lad ready to set sail, this look felt a bit too plain, old costume-y, and just not the kind to don at the red carpet.

But, of course, we gotta give it to him for the commitment to the bit and attention to the detail!
