Seems like EA has finally nailed it and delivered an FPS that’s set to crush the competition, Battlefield 6. Seriously, just take a look at the Steam reviews; gamers are having an absolute blast. However, many players might not know that countless Easter eggs are hidden in the game. We’re talking about links to previous Battlefield titles, Call of Duty slander, and even pet tributes. So, here are the 10 best Easter eggs in Battlefield 6 that will blow your mind.
1. Dinosaur Figurine
So when you start the first mission of the Battlefield 6 campaign, you’re introduced to Dylan Murphy. Once the chit chat is done, turn around and walk over to the table where there’s a dinosaur figurine.
Recognize it? It’s the same thing that appeared in Battlefield 3‘s Thunder Run mission, where Miller’s son gives it to him as a gift. Since then, this figurine has made appearances in Battlefield 4, Battlefield 5, and even Battlefield 2042.
2. Smiley Face Grenade
After checking out the dinosaur, it’s time for you to head over to the locker. You’ll see a sticky note here that has a grenade with a smiley face. New players might not remember this, but veterans would remember that it’s a throwback to Battlefield: Bad Company, an iconic symbol that we’ve seen hundreds of times before. Here’s something, though: it’s not the only Bad Company reference hiding in Battlefield 6.
3. Dead Space Red Marker
Remember Battlefield: Hardline? That was a game made by Visceral Games, the same studio that gave us Dead Space. Hardline had a bunch of references to the sci-fi horror nightmare series, and that was the case with Battlefield 3 as well.
That tradition continues in Battlefield 6, as on the Empire State map, there’s a drink menu where you can see an item called “Red Marker,” which is an essential aspect of the Dead Space lore. There’s even a drink called “Planet Cracker,” which is a ship from Dead Space that mined planets.
4. Call of Duty Dialogues
One of the key developers behind Battlefield 6 is Vince Zampella, who has worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 and Modern Warfare 2. This explains why some of the voice lines in Battlefield 6 feel so familiar. For instance, during the Cairo escape mission, right at the end, Carter says, “Gecko, we are leaving”.
It’s exactly what Captain Price said during the Call of Duty 4 mission Crew Expendable in a similar tone. Similarly, during the confrontation between Murphy and Kincaid, Kincaid says, “Didn’t check your corners,” which is exactly what Captain Price always tells us to do.
5. Bipod Knife
During the New York mission, if you take the moment to explore what’s inside the tents, you’ll spot a knife that’s fitted with a bipod in one of them. This is a very clever Easter egg in Battlefield 6 that gives a nod to the web series Battlefield Friends.
One of the characters in that show unlocks a bipod for their knife. It’s the kind of reference that only the most hardcore fans of the franchise will catch on their first look.
6. Rendezook Dog Tag
We’re sure that there isn’t a single Battlefield fan out there who hasn’t tried pulling off the Rendezook. This is a moment from 2011 that went viral and is one of the most iconic things in gaming history.
EA even referenced it in the 2042 trailer. If you somehow manage to do this move in Battlefield 6, the game will reward you with the golden Rendezvous Dog Tag, which you can keep permanently.
7. Stolz Der Nation
If you’re a recon specialist and manage to get 250 sniper eliminations in Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer, you’ll get an achievement called Stolz Der Nation.
This is supposed to be a super secret reference to a scene from Inglourious Bastards, where the characters create a film called Solz Der Nation, which depicts a sniper who takes down 250 enemies in just a matter of three days. The achievement fits in quite perfectly.
8. Old Characters
As you progress in Battlefield 6, you’ll unlock achievements for leveling up. Reaching Rank 9 gets you private Class Montes, which is named after a character from Battlefield 3.
Hitting Rank 14 unlocks Lance Corporal Matkovic, who is another character from the same. However, once you reach Rank 25, you’ll receive the Sergeant Redford achievement, which is a reference to the squad leader from Battlefield: Bad Company.
9. Narrator
While exploring the tunnels of Gibraltar in Battlefield 6, you’ll come across a museum that has a bunch of World War 2 artifacts. The background music here is obviously from Battlefield 5, which was also set in the same setting.
As you take a look around, you’ll hear a narrator whose voice feels familiar from previous games like Battlefield 1. Within the museum exhibitions, you’ll also see a blinking light that appears to be transmitting some sort of Morse code.
10. Developer Pets
Sometimes, it’s a good idea to take a break from the multiplayer sweat fest and explore the markets. Why? Here you’ll find shelves that are filled with dog and cat footprints that feature real photos of pets.
The interesting bit is that these are actual pets of the game’s developers. If you look around other apartment buildings, you’ll see even more pictures of developer pets placed on tables.
