It’s finally here, gamers! The ultimate zombie-slaying adventure of the year, Dying Light: The Beast, has hit the shelves. As you’d expect from a sequel. It takes everything you loved about the original and cranks it up to ten, even the challenge. So, if you’re just starting out, here are 10 Dying Light: The Beast tips that will help you survive the nightmare of Castor Woods without getting ripped apart.
10. Search For Basic Gear
This is a bit obvious, but make sure to loot everything and pick up equipment in Dying Light: The Beast. Your primary focus in the early stages of the game is to scavenge the zombies and the environment around to get basic items such as lockpicks, arrows, grenades, and bandages.
If you’ve got a bunch of bodies to go through, walk a mile away and come back, as the bodies will despawn and leave the loot behind for easy pickups.
9. Avoid Purchasing Ammo
You might think it’s crazy to say to avoid purchasing ammo. After all, it’s the most reliable method to unleash firepower on zombies without running out of shells. But here’s the thing: if you slay down an enemy, you can simply loot them for ammo as well. There’s no need to waste your resources on traders when they can be better spent on other things in the game.
8. Upgrade Your Weapons
As you progress in Dying Light: The Beast, you’ll get several weapons, and some of them will have a special place in your heart due to their sheer strength. However, every time you pull them out, they will take damage.
Sure, repairing them is an option, but that can only be done for a few items. A better idea is to simply upgrade them, which not only restores their condition but gives a damage boost.
7. Master the Art of Drop Kick
Surviving the nightmare will become ten times easier once you use Drop Kick to clear out zombies from your path. This ability is unlocked during the early stages of the game and sends your enemies flying while dealing damage.
Once your enemy is knocked, pull out your supporting weapons to finish them off for good. It’s genuinely one of the best things to get out of any sketchy situation.
6. Use The Environment Around You
Spot a zombie right near the edge of a cliff or a building? Well, use Drop Kick and send that thing plunging to death. It’s crucial to make use of the environment around you to kill them so you can save resources.
You can also knock zombies into rivers or water bodies in Castor Woods. Once they’re down, loot them without breaking a sweat. Even if hordes try following you, swim away, and you’ll be safe.
5. Don’t Waste Your Stamina
While we’re all for showing zombies who’s the boss by throwing them off the map or letting them chase you, don’t overdo it. You see, you’re a human in Dying Light: The Beast, and of course, you’ll have physical limitations like stamina.
If you constantly swing your hammer or use melee attacks, there will come a time when you’re out of steam, and that’s when zombies will get you. So, let your stamina recover, and then plan your moves.
4. Spam That UV Light
You’ll have plenty of things to decimate those zombies in Dying Light: The Beast, but the one that should be your primary focus is the UV Light. Why is that the case? Well, it’s the kryptonite for zombies.
When you aim this at their face, they’ll start burning under its glow and run for their lives. This makes it a useful tool when you want to clear out a path while running, opening doors, or making turns. Make sure to use the UV Light when you’re standing to recover stamina, but there are a lot of hostiles nearby.
3. Look Out For Military Convoys
Can’t find some high-end loot? No need to worry, as those zombies in military convoys have got you covered. While exploring Castor Woods, keep an eye out for a military truck icon at the top of your screen.
Once you spot it, accessing it is easy, as all you need to do is beat the down zombie wearing military gear, and use its keycard to open up the cargo holds. Some compartments on the sides of the vehicle might be locked, but use those looted lockpicks to access them, as they have a bunch of other goodies.
2. Clothing Can Save You
Dying Light: The Beast isn’t some battle royale game where cosmetics are just for visual appearance. They hold a lot of value in the game as it’s basically armour. It will reduce the damage you soak, and has a bunch of different perks such as bonus XP.
Make sure you’re always doomscrolling those shops and spending money to upgrade your gear. Fill in every slot, and you’ll see the change on the battlefield instantly.
1. Travel Around Castor Woods With Vehicles
Dying Light: The Beast has a bunch of vehicles, and they’re not for showing off. When you find one, use it to get to your destination. There’s no need to walk when you’ve got a special whip.
What’s great is that vehicles can be used to run over zombies, but be careful. Your vehicle will be damaged and out of commission. Fuel for these vehicles can be found throughout Castor Woods in garages, shops, and other places.
